When I discovered this amazing building, made from cut stone, with its wrought iron balconies and its bronze plaque unveiled by the President of Argentina when he passed through Paris, I immediately got the idea of keeping the Bourgeois and chic side of the Foch Avenue. It would be comfortable and opulent-looking and adding a modern and contemporary designer touch to the interior decoration.
We found a chandelier by Véronèse, some others by Moooï, some coffee tables by Aino Alto and some centipede tables by Fabio Novembre. The hall is bedecked with ceruse finished Canadian wood and with an amazing desk by Levels d’Hannes Wettstein. Both the Corian bar and the dining room are also in darker-coloured wood. These areas are under Kate Moss’ scrutiny, photographed by Albert Watson, showcasing her back and face.
Her portraits play opposite the Angel of the Annunciation by Dolci Carlo, creating an intimate atmosphere for lovers. Every floor is in a bright, but different colour, from Ferrari red to coral blue through orange and pistachio green. The rooms have a marble bathroom, the wallpapers are in warm and silver Alcantara greys, the lamps are by Starck and luxury 9 cloud Haästens bedding.
If you just feel like relaxing, both the wooden massage room which makes you feel like you’re on the beach and the Marrakech hammam would do. The idea was to add comfort to this Haussmannian hotel located in the most luxurious avenue of Paris and also to wink at the talented contemporary designers through their creation. In other words, a beautiful nice and cosy Parisian Boutique Hotel!”
Some would call that a coincidence! It was on his way back from Argentina that the present owner heard about a hotel for sale on Rue d’Argentine in Paris. In 2008, he indulges his passion for hotel design and undertakes full refurbishment of the hotel. The adjoining and well-known former escort bar by Mme Claude, is grafted to the stylish Haussmannian building and a breathtaking interior decor created. The MonHotel now offers an elegant blend of classic architecture on the outside and rich contemporary design on the inside. It is one of Paris’s most luxurious boutique hotels.
